When we can no longer find words for a positive shared future – because opinions have become entrenched, because individual experiences are no longer reflected in general ideals and categories, because bad news has left us speechless – perhaps we need to change the medium in which we negotiate our dreams (for the future)?

With “Mutants in Music: Dreamteam,” the Cologne-based ensemble uBu explores ways to bring dreams together in music and dance, exploring the dreamlike, poetic, and absurd aspects of the ultimate interplay.

For the ORBIT edition, the ensemble is once again calling on the public to add to the “Playlist of Dreams” until April 20, 2026, with music that is personally associated with dreams. uBu condenses the playlist into collective dreamscapes and dreamscores in the concert performance.

uBu takes on the overwhelming task of the diversity and contradictions of the dreams represented in music as a sporting challenge.

Can the dream team win the championship in collective dreaming?

For ORBIT, uBu’s dream team is expanded to include deaf musician Matthias Ranner, who comments on and challenges the ensemble’s uButopia with a “Playlist of Deaf Dreams.”
