Rochus Aust

SOUNDTRONAUT

ROCHUS AUST (*1968) · ARCM (Associate Royal College of Music)
is a German soundtronaut, media performer, and artist curator for sound-based arts in Cologne.
Rochus composes, stages, produces, and performs transmedia and interdisciplinary large-scale projects, unique performances, and installations in over 50 countries, including 11 symphonies for electric orchestras.

Rochus is academically socialized/trained, democratically steeled, canon-critically influenced, praised for his creative work and interpretations, acts in a future-oriented manner, has a collective understanding, and takes solo responsibility.

In his artistic practice, which moves within the coordinates of visual music, MOVinstallation, and poésie électronique, supposedly purely organizational parameters such as location, time, climate, and budget are composed as integral components. The space—whatever its nature—plays a decisive role, populated/occupied/planted with the human factor in the form of the performers and the audience, who interpret and receive the respective content. This practice ultimately leads to unique performances/experiences/projects.

DIE DUALEN/GRAND JURY is part of the PLANETARIUM DER SINNLOSIGKEITEN (Planetarium of Meaninglessness), a collection of works in a wide variety of formats in which Rochus Aust shifts, overlaps, hijacks, deconstructs, calibrates to humanity, or even withdraws from humanity perspectives on social processes.
