Natalie Dedreux

Natalie Dedreux, born in Cologne in 1998 with Down syndrome, is an activist, journalist, speaker, and moderator focusing on inclusion and the rights of people with disabilities.

From 2020 to 2021, she worked in external placements with the editorial team of Ohrenkuss and with Deutschlandfunk. Since 2021, she has been working at the Dedreux agency, where she continues her work as an activist, journalist, and speaker.

Since 2016, she has been a member of the editorial team of Ohrenkuss, a magazine written exclusively by people with Down syndrome. Between 2017 and 2019, she completed journalistic internships at katholisch.de and Deutschlandfunk.

She gained wider public attention through her appearance in the 2017 Wahlarena, where she confronted Angela Merkel with the question: “Why is it still allowed to abort a baby with Down syndrome up until shortly before birth?” Since then, she has been sharing insights into her life with Down syndrome on social media and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.

In addition, she appears as a speaker and moderator at events such as those organized by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the Special Olympics World Games, various networking events, and cultural festivals. In 2022, her book “My Life Is Pretty Cool!” was published.
