When the Kölner Chaos Orchester (KCO) takes the stage, chaos is not experienced as disorder, but as a productive space of possibility. Founded only in spring 2025, the ensemble — based in the studios of Ensemble Musikfabrik — has quickly become a place where new music in the broadest sense emerges: improvised, composed, loud, quiet, fragile, humorous, and often all at once.
The orchestra is intentionally open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or musical experience. Participation is possible with or without an instrument: those with experience bring their practice; those who are curious bring their questions. Both matter. Within this openness lies the core idea of the KCO: cultural boundaries dissolve, leaving the connecting force of listening, responding, and making music together.
SATURDAY: As part of the ORBIT Festival, the KCO performs a concert in the hall of Alte Feuerwache.
SUNDAY: Following the “Speakers’ Corner,” the KCO invites the audience to a soundwalk through Alte Feuerwache: beginning in the hall and ending in the stairwell, where the concert unfolds into a spatial sound installation.
