Steffen Pohl, born in Wolfenbüttel, studied Theater/Literature Studies and Art History at the University of Hamburg. Since 1988, he has worked at various theaters as an assistant, director, and dramaturge (including in independent theater productions in Hamburg, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Bonn, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, Kampnagel Hamburg, Theater Neumarkt Zurich). Since 2001, he has been conceptualizing and writing librettos for operas with Michael Maierhof: “Scream,” an opera in 5 acts (2003), “Allertal-Ost,” a chamber opera in one act (2009), “EXIT G,” a chamber opera. Premiered in 2015 at the opera stabile of the Hamburg State Opera. He is also active as a project manager and moderator in market research.
