Rika Sakalak
Rika Sakalak, born and raised in Athens, works as a dramaturg and curator in North Rhine-Westphalia. After completing a BA in Classical Philology at the University of Athens, she continued her studies at Ruhr University Bochum, where she received her MA degrees in Comparative Literature and Theatre Studies in 2022.
Since 2021, Sakalak has been working freelance as a dramaturg and curator, collaborating with artists, collectives, and festivals. From 2022 to 2024, she was a dramaturg at Ringlokschuppen Ruhr. Shaped by her own biography, her practice is informed by a critical perspective on power structures and a strong commitment to diversity-sensitive approaches.
Since July 2025, Rika Sakalak has been co-directing the Favoriten Festival together with Jonas Leifert, which will take place in Dortmund in October 2026.
