Nora Krahl
Director, cellist, and composer Nora Krahl passionately dedicates herself to contemporary music and the experimental digital forms of music theater. Since 2023, she has been the artistic director of MiR.LAB, the new digital laboratory of the Gelsenkirchen Music Theater.
As a director, Nora Krahl particularly engages with boundary-crossing, digital technologies, and new narrative forms. Motion tracking and XR play a special role in her work. She was a fellow of the XR-Unites Fellowship at HTW Berlin and at Dock11-digital Berlin. Her productions have taken her to the Deutsche Oper Berlin (premiere of Sara Glojnarić’s chamber opera “KEIN MYTHOS”), the Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin, and the Depot Istanbul Gallery (“Gölge Kağıt” for cello, paper, electronics, and performer), as well as to NYC (Columbia University). In 2016, her first music theater piece, “Persona non Grata,” premiered in NYC, which she directed herself. Nora has received numerous scholarships and residencies in Basel, Istanbul, New York City, and California. She studied cello and musicology at the Folkwang University of the Arts and music theater directing at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin.
