Luísa Marinho Saraiva
Luísa Marinho Saraiva was born in Porto, Portugal in 1987. In 2010 she graduated with a Masters in
Psychology from the University of Porto. In the same year she was awarded a grant from the Portuguese
Culture Ministry for an internship at Porto Alegre Cia de Dança (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and at Mark Siecz-
karek Company (Wuppertal). In 2015 she graduated with a B. A. in Dance from Folkwang University of
the Arts, in Essen. As a performer she has worked with artists such as Alexandra Pirici, Ben J. Riepe, Cata-
rina Miranda, Jonathan Saldanha and Susanne Linke. As a choreographer, a work-in-progress version of
her dance piece “HOCHWASSER” was selected for Danse Élargie competition in 2016 and presented in
Seoul. Following that, a full-evening version of the piece premiered in April 2018 at tanzhaus nrw Düs-
seldorf and Festival DDD in Porto. In 2017 she was granted the IKF one-year scholarship programme
(Individual Programme for the Development of Artists) by the Nordrhein-Westfalen Ministry of Culture
(Mfkjks NRW). During her scholarship, Luísa Saraiva collaborated with artist Lea Letzel in the creation of
the piece “A CONCERT/EIN KONZERT”, that was awarded the NRW Ground Support Prize. As a curator
she has worked together with Museum Folkwang in Essen and Galeria Municipal do Porto in interdisci-
plinary Symposium and exhibition formats. In 2019 she received the danceWEB scholarship and in the
season of 2019/2020 she is one of the choreographers-in-residence at the K3|Tanzplan Hamburg.
