Julian Kämper

Dramaturgy

Julian Kämper is a musicologist, author, and freelance dramaturg for music, music theatre, and performance. He researches, publishes, and teaches on contemporary musical forms.

As a dramaturg — including as a member of the Munich-based trugschluss collective — he develops and accompanies alternative concert and theatre formats within the independent scene as well as in collaboration with established cultural institutions and festivals (including the Munich Philharmonic and the Munich Biennale).

He works closely with collectives, ensembles, and interdisciplinary artists to create theme- and site-specific presentation formats. As part of the Sounddramaturgien collective, he develops performative concepts in the field of 3D audio; to date, 3D sound theatre productions have been created for Kunstkraftwerk Bergson, the Ruhrtriennale, and the Bavarian State Opera/Schauburg.

As a radio author, he works for German public broadcasting. In 2024, together with Katharina Ortmann, he founded Musikbüromuc to support Munich’s independent music scene. Julian Kämper studied art, music, and media in Marburg.
