Jean-Baptiste Barrière

Composition, Sound Design, Video

Composer and multimedia artist Jean-Baptiste Barrière was born in Paris. In addition to his work as a composer, he pursued a scientific career at IRCAM from 1981 to 1998, where he was involved in research, teaching, and composition. He supervised projects such as “Chants” (singing and computers) and “Formes” (computers and composition). Today, he works primarily as a composer for multimedia projects and art installations. He has created music for the Salzburg Festival, international festivals in New York and Montréal, and IRCAM projects, among others. Not only have his collaborations with international artists (Pierre Friloux, Françoise Gedanken, Catherine Ikam, Louis Fléri, Peter Greenaway, Maurice Benayoun, and François Schuitten) taken him around the world, but his works can also be seen and heard far beyond the borders of Europe, at major festivals and exhibitions in Tokyo and Shanghai.
