After studying percussion at the Zurich University of the Arts and training in electroacoustic music, Gary Berger specialized in the interpretation and sound engineering of live electronic works in the field of contemporary music. He then studied composition with Iannis Xenakis and Julio Estrada at CEMAMU and IRCAM in Paris, as well as at the Zurich University of the Arts. His works have been performed in Switzerland and abroad, including at the Lucerne Festival, Wien Modern, the ISCM World New Music Days, and the MATRIX Festival. In 2023, he and the Captain Fiffy collective received the “Wand 5 Award for Expanded Media” at the 36th Stuttgart Filmwinter Festival for the music video “Wassermusik.” Gary Berger teaches electroacoustic and intermedia composition at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
