Dorrit Bauerecker is a pianist and accordionist. She frequently incorporates additional instruments as well as her voice into her work and, as a performer, has developed forms of expression that extend beyond the purely musical. Her particular interest lies in formats and approaches that move across genres and milieus—she continually asks what her music-making connects to and how far it can reach.

This is exemplified in Bauerecker’s collaboration with singer and performer Barbara Schachtner, whose work together spans classical repertoire, improvisation, and contemporary composition. In their ensemble INTERSTELLAR 2 2 7, founded in 2015, the two present fully staged music productions—still awaiting a fitting designation.
